Forty Quarters

WINDOW OVERVIEW:

The Forty Quarters web window displays when the 40Q icon is selected on the Interface Menu or the Bendex tab on the SVES window.  The Social Security Administration provides past employment information needed to determine eligibility for aliens applying for benefits.

The Social Security Administration awards a 'quarter of coverage' to a person once a certain amount of income is earned during a three month period (quarter) of the year.  The amount needed to earn a quarter of coverage increases each year.  The amount in 2007 is $1000.00.  The employment must be covered under Title II of the Social Security Act, as listed on their web site.
