Race and Ethnicity
Key Points:
- Parents can make the determination for young children
- Designating race continues to be required to checkout a case; the Ethnicity field is an optional field.
- Race and Ethnicity is documented in two fields. When making a selection, consider the definitions that follow.
Race: The primary taxonomic category with which an individual identifies as a member, or with which a parent identifies her/his child as a member.
Ethnicity: - Select one of these categories: Mexican - Puerto Rican - Cuban - Central American- South American- Other Spanish Origin- Unable to Determine. Select 'Unable to Determine' in the instance of a very young or severely disabled child without anyone available to disclose whether or not the child is Hispanic.
Steps:
- Select person from the Detail Master Case window by either double clicking on the person or highlighting and selecting the Person Icon.
- From the Person Detail window, select the Demographics push button
- Select the Ethnicity from the drop down list
- Highlight the appropriate race(s) from the list at the bottom
- Select the OK push button
